45 minute performance / assembly – £180
This special option offers a unique opportunity to bring the school community together to experience the traditional songs of Scotland. Using bodhrans, mandolin and guitars, Douglas Kay and Martin Philip – The Sorries – perform a selection of tunes, encouraging participation from the children and sharing some of the stories behind the songs.
Perfect to fit in with your school’s St. Andrew’s Day or Burns celebrations, the choice of songs can have a more general cultural focus or can be tailored to complement a particular topic (eg. The Jacobites, Work Songs, Mary Queen of Scots, the songs of Walter Scott, etc).
The performance includes:
A sing-along performance of Scottish folk songs.
Discussion of the themes and events covered in the songs.
Display of various traditional instruments.
‘Deliciously infectious…affirms just how alive Scottish folk music is.’
***** Three Weeks
‘Authentic, lively and hugely, hugely enjoyable.’
